Bitter Vettel: "I do not know what to say, the accident with Verstappen is a disaster"

Dark face and little desire to speak. Sebastian Vettel is clearly disappointed by the result of the Japanese Grand Prix finished in sixth place after a contact with Max Verstappen. In the post race, he analyzed his performance: "I tried. I pushed to the maximum right away. I noticed immediately that there was a gap. I tried it with Verstappen, but it did not leave me room. We could not make the curve together. The accident was a real disaster. After contact with Max, the car was damaged. The atmosphere in the team? With similar results it is not easy to be optimistic. We work hard for the whole year and when the results are not difficult for everyone. Sometimes I do not know what to say. It was not a good result for us ".

Pressed on contact with Verstappen, Vettel also let himself go to controversial considerations: "I was inside. Yet, as soon as he saw me, he attempted a defense to the limit. As soon as he realizes that someone is close to him, he tries, in my opinion, to push even when he should no longer push ". Then he focused on the contact between the Dutchman and his team mate Raikkonen: "Look with Kimi: he came off the track and came back. If Kimi continued his maneuver, they would collide. But it is not always right that the other boy forgives us ". Then he said: "This is part of the races, do not get me wrong. I do not regret my move. But obviously with another maneuver it would have ended differently ".
